John Singleton ("Boyz n the Hood") is a co-creator and executive producer on this character-driven docuseries that reveals the "origin story" of crack cocaine in 1983 Los Angeles and how the drug radically affected modern culture. Events are viewed through such characters as young street entrepreneur Franklin Saint (Damson Idris); Mexican wrestler Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and Teddy McDonald (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative fleeing a dark past.
