The Berlin Olympics of the mid-1930s are remembered largely for the role of track-and-field medalist Jesse Owens, but other American athletes also made their marks in those Games, as recounted by "The Boys of ’36." Based on a best-seller by Daniel James Brown, it recalls the Depression-era inspiration supplied by nine University of Washington rowers who showed endurance not only against rivals backed by Adolf Hitler, but also elite U.S. teams.
