Robert Eggers earned nearly across-the-board critical acclaim for his first feature film, a period horror film set in 1630 New England, where a Puritan farm family begins to fear the eldest daughter is a witch after her baby brother disappears while in her care. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Thomasin, the daughter under suspicion; Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw and Ellie Grainger also star. Eggers, who also wrote the film, won several film festival accolades, and the film grossed more than 10 times its modest production budget.
