Mysteries of the Abandoned

SCIENCE | 9:00 pm

This fascinating series that explores some of the world's strangest ghost towns returns with new episodes, starting with a two-hour presentation that visits the site of an Argentinian village where tourists from Buenos Aires enjoyed the therapeutic lake waters. A 1985 weather disaster caused a nearby dam to break, however, irreparably flooding the community. Other segments highlight the once-thriving mining community of Thurmond, W.Va., and the Gold Rush town of Bodie, Calif., now empty and desolate.
