"Do Right Woman" chronicles how Aretha Franklin (Cynthia Erivo) struggles to find a healthy balance between her blossoming musical career and her commitment to the American civil rights movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Ethan Henry) during 1967-68. Then, in "Unforgettable," Aretha is elated when Time Magazine puts her on a 1968 cover, until she discovers the story focuses mostly on scandalous details from her personal life. Flashbacks reveal how her parents struggle to put down roots in 1941 Memphis before Aretha is born.
