The new episode "American Oz" explores the life and times of author L. Frank Baum, creator of one of America's most beloved literary classics. When "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was published in 1900, Baum was 44 and had spent most of his life going through jobs ranging from chicken breeder to marketer of petroleum products to traveling salesman, with mixed results. Somehow, though, he never lost his childlike sense of wonder and optimism. Interviews include Baum biographer Evan Schwartz, "Wicked" author Gregory Maguire and historian Philip Deloria.
