American Experience

PBS | 9:00 pm

A new episode chronicles the life and career of American evangelist Billy Graham, who became well known internationally in the late 1940s and by the time of his death at 99 in 2018 was widely acknowledged as among the most influential Christian leaders of the 20th century. Graham provided spiritual counsel to every U.S. president from Harry Truman to Barack Obama and counted President Lyndon Johnson as one of his closest friends. As early as 1953, he insisted that his religious events no longer be racially segregated.
