The new episode "The Viper Room: Hollywood's Sanctuary" focuses on a Sunset Strip nightspot in West Hollywood that was partially owned by actor Johnny Depp when it opened in 1993. While it was known as a hangout for elite members of the young Tinseltown crowd, the club soon accumulated a dark history. Most famously, on Halloween night of 1993, it was the site of golden-boy actor River Phoenix's fatal drug overdose. In early 1995, Australian singer-actor Jason Donovan narrowly escaped the same fate, surviving a drug-induced seizure.
