In Their Own Words

PBS | 8:00 pm

Fresh perspectives from family members, journalists, colleagues, biographers and admirers add layers to a candid look at former president Jimmy Carter in this new episode. After he failed to win a second term against Republican rival Ronald Reagan, Carter's presidency initially was viewed as a failure in some quarters. Since then, however, Carter has become a revered statesman and public figure who has fought for and won dramatic advances in equal rights, environmental conservation and global peace. Interviews include son Chip Carter and former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young.
