In the late 19th century, the U.S. government set up an Indian boarding school system that was dedicated to a dubious goal: "Kill the Indian in him, and save the man." Accordingly, the program removed tens of thousands of Native American children from their tribal homelands and stripped them of their languages, traditions and culture. The new episode "Home From School: The Children of Carlisle" examines the history of the flagship among those schools and looks at a tribal effort to recover the remains of three children who died there.
