Originally inspired by a spoken-word showcase with high school performers from highly diverse backgrounds, Carlos Lopez Estrada's well-received 2020 comedy-drama presents a kaleidoscopic take on 25 young Los Angeles residents whose lives coincidentally intersect during the course of a sweltering hot day in Southern California. Among the featured characters are a frazzled fast-food worker, a pair of aspiring rap performers, a limo driver and a skating guitarist, among several others.
